The National Library India is the largest library in the country. It is an institution of national importance under the Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India. The library is designated to collect, disseminate and preserve the printed material produced in the country. The library is situated on a scenic 30 acres Belvedere Estate, Kolkata.

The Library of Congress is the research library that officially serves the United States Congress but which is the de facto national library of the United States. It is the oldest federal cultural institution in the United States. Cole argues that it is now the largest and most international library in the world. 

Online  Computer Library Center, Inc. (OCLC) is "a non profit, membership, computer library service and research organisation dedicated to the public purposes of furthering access to the world's information and reducing information costs. Founded in 1967 as the Ohio College Library Center, OCLC and its member libraries co-operatively produce and maintain WorldCat, the largest online public access catalog in the world. 

Delhi Public Library is a National Depository Library in Delhi, India. It has over 35 branches across the state. The one of the branches of the library is located on S. P. Mukherjee Marg, opposite the Old Delhi Railway Station. 

RRRLF is a central autonomous organization established and fully financed by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. RRRLF is registered under the West Bengal Societies Registration Act, 1961. It is the nodal agency of the Government of India to support public library services and systems and promote public library movement in the country commensurate with the objectives as embodied in its Memorandum of Association.

The Indian Library Association is a premier association committed to the cause of Library Movement and Development. The Indian Library Association is the national association which represents those who work in or advocate for Indian libraries. ILA has provided a wide variety of services and programs to its members and others in the library community since its formation in 1933. 

Infolibrarian embarked on its journey to provide useful information to Library and Information Science [LIS] professionals in 2000. The site also made it to the list of useful resources of United Nations, UNESCO, Subject Directories etc.

The Central Library of IIT Kharagpur started in a small room of the Institute old Building (Shahid Bhavan) in the year 1951, and moved to its present premises in 1956. Since then, it has grown in size and content to take the present shape. With the developments in computers, microelectronics and communication technologies, the behavioral characteristics of the information seekers have been changing rapidly and the library is trying its best to adapt with the technological advancement.

National Institute of Science Communication and Information Resources (NISCAIR) came into existence   on 30 September 2002 with the merger of National Institute of Science Communication (NISCOM) and Indian National Scientific Documentation Centre (INSDOC). Both NISCOM and INSDOC, the two premier institutes of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), were devoted to dissemination and documentation of S&T information.

DRTC was established in January 1962 as a division of the Indian Statistical Institute. It developed as a result of social forces. Soon after independance, the Government of India created the Indian Standards Institution in 1947.

Information and Library Network (INFLIBNET) Centre [www.inflibnet.ac.in ] is an Autonomous Inter-University Centre (IUC) of University Grants Commission (UGC) involved in creating infrastructure for sharing of library and information resources and services among Academic and Research Institutions. INFLIBNET works collaboratively with Indian university libraries to shape the future of the academic libraries in the evolving information environment.
